Every item in Old School Near-Reality has weight, which can affect a user in their gameplay. Players can see the total weight of the items they have equipped (measured in kilograms) or are carrying in their inventory on the Equipment Stats screen. Many items weigh with decimals, but the Equipment Stats screen will round down to the nearest kilogram. For example, a rune platebody weighs 9.979 kg, but will be displayed as 9 kg.

The rate at which energy depletes while running scales linearly between 0 kg and 64 kg weight, where having 0 kg weight will deplete a player's run energy at the normal rate and having 64 kg weight will deplete a player's run energy at exactly twice the normal rate. Having a weight outside the range of 0 kg to 64 kg has no additional effect. A player's Agility level contributes to how quickly run energy is restored, but does not affect the rate at which a player's run energy is depleted. Keep in mind this is only affected in the Wilderness.

Stackable items such as runes, coins, and other items do not have a weight. Some items also reduce weight instead of adding, which is very useful for quests or activities that require a lot of running.

Weight reducing items[edit | edit source]

Item Weight (kg)
Spotted cape inventory image Spotted cape -2.267
Spottier cape inventory image Spottier cape -4.535
Agility cape inventory image Agility cape -4.0
Boots of lightness inventory image Boots of lightness -4.535
Penance gloves inventory image Penance gloves -4.535
Graceful hood inventory image Graceful hood -3.0
Graceful top inventory image Graceful top -5.0
Graceful cape inventory image Graceful cape -4.0
Graceful legs inventory image Graceful legs -6.0
Graceful gloves inventory image Graceful gloves -3.0
Graceful boots inventory image Graceful boots -4.0

Currently, wearing the combination of a spottier cape, boots of lightness, penance gloves, graceful hood, graceful top and graceful legs allows the player to have weight as low as -27.605 kg; With a full inventory of pufferfish this is lowered to -41.605 kg, this is the minimum amount of weight currently possible. All weight reducing items are wearables and have to be worn to 'activate' the weight reduction, with the exception of pufferfish.

Greatest weight[edit | edit source]

The current greatest weight possible a player can weigh at any given time is 1,024.525 kg. Items required to wear in order to reach this weight are:

Slot Item Weight (kg)
Headwear Gold helmet 31.751
Cape Diving apparatus 10
Neckwear Seal of passage 4.535
Ammunition God blessings 0.51
Weapon Barrelchest anchor/Dinh's bulwark/Colossal blade 30[d 1]
Shield - 0
Body Granite body 22.679
Legs Granite legs 15.875
Hands Skeletal gloves/Spined gloves 3.175
Boots Guardian boots 7
Ring Granite ring (i)/Granite ring 3
Inventory 28× Barrel of coal tar (or any variation) 28×32 (896)
Total 1,024.525
  1. The Barrelchest anchor, Dinh's bulwark and Colossal blade are two-handed weapons, therefore the Shield slot will be empty. They can also be substituted with Crate with zanik. It weighs 2 kg more, making the absolute maximum possible weight 1,026.525.
