A '''pet''' is a non-combat NPC loyal to a player that is generally obtained from monster drops and skilling. Most pets are very rare drops from certain bosses or skilling activities and do not serve a purpose other than aesthetics. The player is able to interact with most pets, but they may only have one pet following them at a time. Pets are limited to a walking pace (except for Nexling and Babi); if they become stuck and/or too far away from the player they follow, they will teleport close to the player and continue. They can also be called to the player's side using the "Call follower" button under the Worn Equipment tab. There are currently many available pets in ''Near-Reality'', of which 64 fill a collection log slot.
A '''Remnant Pet''' is a loyal NPC to a player that is obtained from the [[Well of Sacrifice]] with remnant points. All of these pets serve a purpose and give the player specific benefits or bonuses in game. A list of all pets and their benefits can be viewed in game with the <code>::petinfo</code> command. A player can remind themselves what effect their pet gives with the <code>::mypet</code> command. They can also be called to the player's side using the <code>::callpet</code> command if they ever become lost.

Pets may be stored in the bank or inventory and will follow the player when dropped.
Pets may be stored in the bank or inventory and will follow the player when dropped. The benefits will only apply if the pet is currently dropped.

==Obtaining a pet==
==List of pets==
When a player receives a one-off pet (i.e. a boss or skilling pet), it will automatically try to appear as their follower. At the same time, a message in the chatbox will state {{mes|You have a funny feeling like you're being followed.|color=red}} Upon receiving a pet, a small sound will be heard.
===Base Pets===
All base remnant pets are obtainable from the [[Well of Sacrifice]] shop located east of home. They vary greatly in price and effect, and can be purchased with remnant points.

However, if a player receives a pet while having a follower out, it will be placed into their inventory. When this occurs, the message in the chatbox will instead state, {{mes|You feel something weird sneaking into your backpack.|color=red}} If a player's inventory is full '''and''' they have a follower already, they '''will not''' receive the pet; it must instead be claimed from Probita at home. When skilling, the pet is prioritised over the resource gathered; it will be placed in the last inventory slot available, while the resource gathered will be dropped underneath the player if their inventory becomes full. However, this '''does not''' apply to Farming due to the complexity of the skill's code.

! colspan=2 |Pet
A few pets can be obtained by gambling rather than being a drop, those being the Tzrek-Jad, Jal-nib-rek and Smol heredit. The latter three require sacrificing their respective item (fire cape, infernal cape and dizana's quiver) and makes the same drop rate roll as getting it normally. If the player already owns the pet in their bank, inventory, menagerie or is following them, the pet cannot be gambled for again until lost.

!Cost
If a player dies with a one-off pet following them (or if it is in their inventory and it is not one of the items protected on death) in a dangerous situation, the pet will always be saved.

===Boss pets===
Each pet is a potential reward for defeating a certain boss monster or completing a raid, including skilling bosses and minigame bosses. Additionally, with the exception of the Phoenix (rewarded for subduing Wintertodt), these pets resemble or are capable of resembling the bosses they are associated with.

===Skilling pets===
===Primal Pets===
These pets are obtained by training a specific skill, with the chance of obtaining one being based on the player's level in the corresponding skill and the base chance of the activity being performed.
Primal Pets are upgraded versions of all the Base Pets listed above. A player can upgrade their pet by sacrificing it to the [[Primal Fire]] located underneath the [[Well of Goodwill]]. To do this, a number of primal components are required and the chance to successfully upgrade is '''not''' guaranteed. The starting base rate, minimum components required, and how much each component raises the success chance by depends on what tier the pet is. Failing to combine your pet with primal components means you will lose your pet PERMANENTLY. A portion of both your remnant points and some of your components will be returned to your inventory upon a failure.

For all drop rates, use the formula: <math>\text{DropRate} = \frac{1}{\text{BaseChance} - (\text{SkillLevel} * 25)}</math>. Base chances are found on the individual page for each pet. A player's chance of receiving a skilling pet does not increase past level 99, with only one exception: players with 200 million experience in the corresponding skill will be fifteen times more likely to receive the skilling pet.

!Low Tier Upgrade Info (15-20k[[File:Remnant Voucher.png|22px]])
As the rates use the player's base level, temporary skill boosts such as the dragon pickaxe's special attack or invisible boosts in areas such as the Woodcutting Guild do not affect the rate at which players can obtain these pets.

===Fissile Kratos===
|{{plinkt|Chompy chick}}||476
Kratos is the only Remnant Pet that has a second upgrade tier. To be able to obtain the Fissile Kratos, a player must sacrifice both a Primal Roc and a Primal Kratos to the [[Primal Fire]]. Upon attempting fission, the player will receive their new pet along with x5 Regal Mystery Boxes [[File:Regal Mbox.png|17px]] and Double Drops will be activated globally for all players for 2 hours! The chance to successfully receive a Fissile Kratos is 100% once both pets have been sacrificed to the fire.

A portrait of Fissile Kratos

A Remnant Pet is a loyal NPC to a player that is obtained from the Well of Sacrifice with remnant points. All of these pets serve a purpose and give the player specific benefits or bonuses in game. A list of all pets and their benefits can be viewed in game with the ::petinfo command. A player can remind themselves what effect their pet gives with the ::mypet command. They can also be called to the player's side using the ::callpet command if they ever become lost.

Pets may be stored in the bank or inventory and will follow the player when dropped. The benefits will only apply if the pet is currently dropped.

List of pets[edit | edit source]

Base Pets[edit | edit source]

All base remnant pets are obtainable from the Well of Sacrifice shop located east of home. They vary greatly in price and effect, and can be purchased with remnant points.

Primal Pets[edit | edit source]

Primal Pets are upgraded versions of all the Base Pets listed above. A player can upgrade their pet by sacrificing it to the Primal Fire located underneath the Well of Goodwill. To do this, a number of primal components are required and the chance to successfully upgrade is not guaranteed. The starting base rate, minimum components required, and how much each component raises the success chance by depends on what tier the pet is. Failing to combine your pet with primal components means you will lose your pet PERMANENTLY. A portion of both your remnant points and some of your components will be returned to your inventory upon a failure.

Fissile Kratos[edit | edit source]

Kratos is the only Remnant Pet that has a second upgrade tier. To be able to obtain the Fissile Kratos, a player must sacrifice both a Primal Roc and a Primal Kratos to the Primal Fire. Upon attempting fission, the player will receive their new pet along with x5 Regal Mystery Boxes Regal Mbox.png and Double Drops will be activated globally for all players for 2 hours! The chance to successfully receive a Fissile Kratos is 100% once both pets have been sacrificed to the fire.
