Getting Started

Getting Started!Edit

Near-Reality's Rules and RegulationsEdit

1. Flaming, Racism, Harassment, and Disrespect:Edit

Throughout the community are a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds, therefore everyone is entitled to the respect of all members of the community. We expect members to behave, act mature, and handle any stressful situations respectfully. The sole purpose of this server and community is to provide entertainment to anyone and everyone no matter where they come from, what they look like, or what they believe in. Enforcement of this rule will be at the discretion of the staff member/team based on how we deem the severity of what has been said by the player. Remember that members have different types of emotions and may react differently than other players. What one person may take as a joke could be interpreted by another player in a completely different manner than it was intended. It's your responsibility to watch what you're saying to others, and it's our responsibility to make sure that all members are happy to be a part of Near-Reality. With this in mind, we have strict rules against such acts of flame/flame-baiting, harassment, and disrespect towards the community and we will not tolerate it. This includes telling someone to get cancer. This will not be tolerated. a. Topics, posts, PMs etc., that are directed at a single member, or group, to either defame them of their reputation, character or to simply insult, flame them directly etc., will also be considered harassment and disrespect.

2. Doxing/Sharing Personal InformationEdit

Sharing any information about another player such as real life names, family member names, home addresses, phone numbers, social media accounts, and any other information that we deem personal will result in punishment based on the severity of what was said. Procedure: 1st: Permanent IP Mute | 2nd: Permanent IP Ban

3. Advertising other ServersEdit

Advertisement on the forums and server is strictly dealt with, and an automatic ban from the forums and server will be given. Those who have other situations that do NOT relate to RuneScape Private Relations can private message a member of the upper management team for permission to advertise, otherwise ALL advertisements will be dealt with as the same. a. Common known links (e.g. Voting Sites and YouTube) is fine and will be permitted.

5. SpammingEdit

Spamming on Near-Reality will not be permitted. These acts will be acted upon accordingly by the staff members of Near-Reality. Auto-Typers should not be abused but are allowed. The timer should be set to a minimum of 8-10 seconds. If this rule is abused it may be removed in the future and autotypers disallowed. Procedure: 1st Warning | 2nd: 48h Mute | 3rd: 1w mute | 4th: Perm Mute

6. Hacking & ThreatsEdit

Misleading links are never to be posted on the forums, if posting a link to a YouTube video; we expect it to lead to YouTube. Otherwise your account will face punishments in proportion to the offense. Hacking will never be tolerated on either the forums or server. It is a crime and you will be permanently IP-banned. Threatening any member with anything will result in an appropriate punishment, up to a permanent IP-ban. DDOS threats will not be tolerated and is a federal offense in many countries. It will be reported if necessary and punishment will result in an IP Ban.

7. Encouraging Others to Break RulesEdit

If a player asks another player to do something that is against the rules, whether that player knows it's against the rules or not, that's considered encouraging others to break the rules. It is the responsibility of every member to know and understand the rules before playing. Offenders will be treated as if they committed the offense themselves and will be punished as if they are the one breaking the rule. Enforcement of this rule will be at the discretion of the staff member/team based on how we deem the severity of what has been said by the player.

8. Bug AbuseEdit

Abuse of any and all glitches on the server or forum is not tolerated and anyone caught doing so will either be temporarily or permanently banned. We will not and shall not tolerate flaws being abused to make someone richer, or promote themselves on the forums and or game. Repeated abuse will result in a permanent IP-Ban.

9. Player Vs. Player (PvP)Edit

Near-Reality is not held responsible for members who have lost, disconnected etc., while in the wilderness. We also do not have set rules for the wilderness, so go in there at your own risk. Farming consists of killing your team's alternate accounts, requesting kills from a player (regardless of if compensation is involved), or killing your own accounts. Farming is also subject to interpretation by the staff team. Its always best to report strange activity in the wilderness to protect yourself.

10. Staff ImpersonationEdit

Impersonation of the staff team is not acceptable and the member will be dealt with harshly. There are a lot of cases where another member is scammed, hacked, or otherwise somehow misguided because a member is impersonating a staff member. Procedure: 1st Offense: Permanent Ban!

11. Refunds (Scams, Disconnects etc.)Edit

a. Disconnections will not be refunded, you are playing at your own risk. However, feel free to create a thread about it that states the problem and any relevant information so the problem can be fixed.
b. Donations will ONLY be refunded after 72 hours if the player has NOT yet received the items or position (forums, server) that was donated for, otherwise a refund is not required. Those who lose items on the server will not be refunded whatsoever.
c. Reset of the server or forums will be refunded if he or she has posted valid proof of their purchase in the 'Donations' board, otherwise a refund to the member will not be given.
d. Scammed members WILL NOT be refunded because there are simple tactics to not be scammed in the first place such as using a middleman (server support, moderator, administrator etc.). *Please note* that we will not be accepting photo-reports of members being scammed, it must be a video or it will not be handled. In some cases things can be proven with logs and we reserve the right to rectify a situation by doing so. Scammers will be permanently banned unless they give the items back, and an IP-ban may occur with repeat offenses.
e. Account Sharing is not of our concern and will NOT be against the rules. Those who account share should realize they are entrusting the other person with the account(s). You are always responsible for what happens on your account.
f. Hacking refunds will not be handed out. Players can use various simple tactics to keep their accounts safe: with the working two factor authentication, you cannot be hacked and hence if you do, it is your own negligence that has caused it.
g. Glitch refunds will ONLY be refunded if you have conclusive proof and can prove that you had the items prior to the glitch. Note that if a developer (or whoever has spawning abilities) does not see the proof as conclusive, it can be declined and you will not receive a refund.
h. Items lent to another player will not be refunded under any circumstances. If you lend items to another player, you assume any risks associated (i.e. player loses said items, player gets banned with said items, etc.). Should anything happen to these items, it is your own negligence that allowed these items to be put in this situation and you will not be refunded.

12. Real-World TradingEdit

Near-Reality does not allow real-world trading because it takes from the server and also influences the economy in a negative way. You will not be able to appeal this punishment. Real-world trading is defined as selling/buying real life money, RuneScape gold or any other form of payment other than NRGP for Near Reality-related items. The ONLY exception is the buying and selling of donator pins with RuneScape gold. Please note that loopholing (player A sells a pin to player B for rsgp and then buys the pin back for NRGP) is NOT allowed and is considered real-world trading. If selling the pin bought with RSGP to someone else from NRGP, then it is allowed, as pre-made agreements of RWT are not made. Enforcement of this rule will be at the discretion of the staff member/team based on how we deem the severity of what has been said by the player.. This can and/or will likely result in a Permanant or IP Ban.

13. ServicesEdit

Near-Reality will NOT be enforcing any rules regarding services. - Use these services at your own risk, we will NOT be reimbursing anyone who is hacked or scammed through these services. Use your best judgment.

14. Yell ChannelEdit

You may not use the 'Yell Channel' (::yell) to advertise clan-chats unless you're a server support or staff member, this including gambling CCs. Keep the swearing and inappropriate language out of yell chat as well (if you wouldn't google it in front of your grandma, then it's probably inappropriate). You can keep in mind that asking a staff member to accept your wanting to yell such things are allowed bearing in mind that he or she doesn't have to. While a warning or mute can take place a removal of your donator rank (with no chance of having it put back) is likely as well, do not make us go to these measures, this will almost always be our last path to take.

  • Advertising Content creators must be in a 30 minute interval for advertising over yell.
  • Advertising a Clan, or CC must be in a 30 minute interval for advertising over yell.

After speaking with the Near-Reality Guide, you will have some choices to make on how you want to proceed with your Adventure into the World of Near-Reality.

Normal Player with no restrictions. (Up to 250x Combat XP | 80x Skilling XP)Edit

Ironman Mode (Up to 80x Combat XP | 80x Skilling XP):Edit

- Unable to trade with other players. - Pick up drops from other players' kills, including your own kills in PvP. - No loot will drop what so ever if another player has attacked the monster you're killing (this does not apply if that monster was weakened by other monsters.) - Achievement Diary task monster kills cannot be earned if assisted by another player. - Use Accept Aid feature - Receive items via balloons in the Falador Party Room. - Stake in the Duel Arena. - Receive trades through the Middle-Man donator pins transactions.

Hardcore Ironman Mode (Up to 80x Combat XP | 80x Skilling XP):Edit

Hardcore Ironman players will only have one life, in addition to the standard restrictions given to all ironmen. If a Hardcore Ironman dies, they will be converted to a standard ironman. In addition, their experience and total level on the Hardcore Ironman highscore table will be locked. - Safe Deaths: Chambers of Xeric, Clan Wars, Duel Arena, Inferno, Last Man Standing, Pest Control, TzHaar Fight Cave, TzHaar Fight Pit, Zulrah - (Ressurection reward from Elite Western Provinces Diary Only). - When a Hardcore Ironman dies, the following message appears in their chatbox: "You have fallen as a Hardcore Iron Man, your Hardcore status has been revoked."

Ultimate Ironman players (Up to 80x Combat XP | 80x Skilling XP):Edit

- Have the following restrictions, in addition to the standard restrictions given to all ironmen - Cannot withdraw, deposit or note items at a bank. They are still able to unnote items at banks. - Cannot create item sets using the Grand Exchange - Cannot receive resources from Managing Miscellania or daily buckets of sand from Bert. - Cannot store anything in the seed vault. - Cannot store duplicate items in the POH Costume Room, or withdraw items before first depositing the entire set an item belongs to. - Cannot utilize the looting bag's mechanics outside of the Wilderness. You will have the ability to remove your Ironman Status by speaking to Adam located north of the Grand Exchange inside of the Achievement Hall during any-point of your game play. However it is important to note that you are not able to recover your Ironman status after you have removed it. It is also important to note that you can not make a regular account a ironman after the initial selection phase.

Group Ironman (Only 20x Combat XP | 20x Skilling XP):Edit

- Groups of two to five players can join together and take on Near-Reality’s strongest monsters. They can only trade their items amongst one another and share into new team-wide Group Storage. Groups will even be able to compete for leaderboard positions and prove that their Group is the greatest in Near-Reality. It’s Ironman, but with a little help – whether it be them mooching off you, mooching off them, or grinding together!

The choice is yours here in Near-Reality. Figure out what Game Mode and XP rate you'd like, and get to grinding! Each XP Rate comes with a different % Drop Rate Bonus depending on difficulty. Good luck!

SecurityEdit

This section contain the basic information needed to keep your Near-Reality account secure.

Securing your Near-Reality AccountEdit

It doesn't require much time or effort to secure your Near Reality account. Here's a few simple steps that you can follow to make sure that your Near-Reality account is as secure as possible.

1. Protecting your computerEdit

The first steps to take when setting up the security on your account is making sure that you have a secure computer. Ideally, at the very least, you'll want to run up to date antivirus, antispyware, and a firewall.

There are plenty of paid for and free options out there but here's a few that we recommend:

Anti-Spyware SoftwareEdit

- Malwarebytes, Spybot Search and Destroy, Microsoft Windows Defender, Ad-Aware Adware

Anti-Virus SoftwareEdit

- Malwarebytes, Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG, Avast!

Firewall SoftwareEdit

- Zone Alarm, ESET Smart Security, Comodo

Once you have your chosen software installed, make sure that you run a full system scan, to ensure that there is no malicious software already on your computer.

2. Creating a Secure Email AccountEdit

You'll want to create a brand new email account to register on your Near-Reality account. The security of this email account is very important so we recommend that you don't use it on any other websites, especially websites that are associated with RSPS (such as other RSPS).

Once you've created your email account, you'll want to set up 2-step verification. This will help to prevent people from accessing your email account, even if they manage to learn your password.

3. Setting Up Two-Factor AuthenticationEdit

Setting up the authenticator is incredibly simple and takes less than 60 seconds!

a. First go to near-reality.com, login, click on your username in the top-right hand corner, and then click on account.

b. You will then find yourself on your User Profile, in the bottom-left hand corner you should see Authenticator, and then click Activate!

c. You will then scan the QR code given to you from Near-Reality, submit the 6-digit authentication code you receive from your Authenticator, and then you should be set with your newly protected 2-FA Account!

d. Success and protected!

4. Adding a Bank PINEdit

If, through some incredibly unfortunate string of events, someone manages to make it through all these other security measures, there is one final feature to help keep your items safe.

The bank PIN can be activated from any bank within OldSchool. Just talk to any Banker:

Near-Reality Store and BenefitsEdit

This section is about the Near-Reality Store and the benefits you receive from supporting Near-Reality and upgrading your account rank.

Near-Reality is a free-to-play MMORPG, where everyone is able to access a majority of the content found within. Minus some exceptions such as the Premium Zone, Expansion Premium Zone, Respected Premium Zone, Legendary Premium Zone, Uber Premium Zone, and Premium Perks (see below). We use the server income for the following: server hosts, development, advertising and marketing. To purchase items within our store, one must purchase credits via our credit-store and then they can spend these credits on any item they choose. We offer the following payment options: Stripe, PayPal, Crypto (via Coinbase), and OSRS gp. We also offer real-world-trading which can be done by purchasing in-game donator pins valued at $10, $25, $50, and $100 USD. You can see the credit options below:

As you purchase more credits, your total spent on your account will increase. If you purchase the $10.00 credit package and then purchase the $15.00 credit package the next day, you will have a total spent value of $25.00, resulting in your account automatically being upgraded to Premium Status and all the perks that come with it.

Note: It is important to remember if you purchase a Donator Pin it will remove the total dollar amount of the Donator Pin. Example: If you purchase the $25.00 credit package your account will be upgraded to Premium, but if you buy a $10.00 Donator Pin, your total spent would be $15.00 resulting in the loss of your Premium Rank [PLEASE BE AWARE: YOUR BONUS CREDITS DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS Total Spent Value. Example: If you buy $50 worth of credits, you will receive 930 credits; however you wil only be able to spend 650 credits on pins!]

Donator Status benefits:Edit

Near-Reality Store

In addition to gaining total spent on your account and upgrading your premium status, you can use Near-Reality Credits to purchase items on the online store found at near-reality.com/store/ .

Reminder: It is important to note if you purchase a Donator Pin it will remove the total dollar amount of the Donator Pin. Example: If you purchase the $25.00 credit package your account will be upgraded to Premium, but if you buy a $10.00 Donator Pin, your total spent would be $15.00 resulting in the loss of your Premium Rank.
